This unique class is being offered at Field for the 2019-2020 school year to 7th/8th grade students.
It will appear on student schedules as "Music Explorations", but make no mistake:
PERFORMANCES ARE REQUIRED FOR THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS CLASS!!
Have you ever wanted to learn how to play any of the following instruments?
Guitar Keyboard / Piano Mallet Instruments
Percussion Instruments Ukelele Auto Harp Recorder
...THEN THIS IS THE CLASS FOR YOU!!!
NO AUDITION REQUIRED. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
ALL YOU NEED >> POSITIVE ATTITUDE, WILLINGNESS TO LEARN, and FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.
We will begin class with a unit covering the foundations of music education, both kinesthetically and how that is translated into music notation. Next, we will cover introductory units on each of the main instruments we have available.
Students will eventually select a primary and secondary instrument to focus on in preparation for concert performances. For the Winter and Spring Concerts, students will perform as a large group, but for the Pancake Breakfast students will be performing in small groups.
In addition to practicing and rehearsing for concerts, there will be in-class assignments and assessments, including a final Garageband project, that students will submit individually.
